Authorities halted evacuation operations on Wednesday due to bad weather in Sikkim

Indian Army officials are happy with the words of appreciations pouring in on social media from the victims and relatives of stranded tourists following successful evacuation operations in isolated areas in Sikkim.

One of the stranded tourists, Shristi Gupta, who was evacuated with the help of the Army yesterday, said: “We are so grateful to the Indian Army for extending help and support since 4 October. My two year old daughter Adriti fell sick and she was suffering from fever. Army officials supplied medicine for us and for Adriti. They used to take care of us every day. Adriti recovered after four days.”

“ We experienced a lot and we can say this trip was amazing and mind-blowing. My son wants to join Indian Army experiencing the situation from 4 October,” Ms Gupta said.

“I wish to express my heart felt gratitude for the incredible rescue mission conducted by the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army in Lachung during the Sikkim floods. Your swift response in establishing a relief camp within hours of the incident, helping civilians connect with their loved ones, and reassuring us that everything would be alright undoubtedly saved countless lives, including mine,” said Jennifer and Ruzbeh Davar.
