U'khand govt to enact 10 percent quota law for statehood agitators

15,000 identified state hood agitators will be benefitted once the reservation bill becomes law

Dependents of the statehood agitators who battled formation of Uttarakhand in 1990s will get 10 percent reservation in the state government services. Pushkar singh Dhami government has decided to bring a bill in this regard in the coming monsoon session of the state assembly starting from Sept 5.

State government's own records show that dependents of nearly 15,000 identified state hood agitators will be benefitted once the reservation bill becomes law.

Officials from the state home department and statehood agitators who had been demanding reservation for their dependents informed the statesman that it was long standing demand that was always sidelined by the governments for one reason or another but now it will see light of the day as the state cabinet has cleared it for enactment by the state assembly.
