Gareth: I'll need a huge Euros

GARETH SOUTHGATE believes England will need to go deep in the Euros next summer for him to be given a shot at the 2026 World Cup.

The 52-year-old has revealed he has no plans to sign a new contract before next year's European Championship in Germany.

And his view is that his Three Lions will have to deliver there if he is going to remain at the helm for the next World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Southgate came close to quitting in the aftermath of England's heartbreaking quarterfinal defeat at the hands of France in Qatar in December - only to have a change of heart when he realised that he still retained the full support of his players.
