Are dashcams a must-have in your car?

Currently, only a few premium cars, and some high-end ones offer in-built dashcams, unlike in the West, where it’s a standard feature, but auto accessory retail owner, Lokesh Lesley, is seeing a rise in sales. “There are many dashcams available – front view only, front, and rear view, and even 360 degrees, with storage capacities of 32/64/120 GB,” he says, adding that the better options even come with motion sensor recorders.

Techie Sunil Kamat say his dashcam came to the rescue during an accident in Bengaluru. An auto in front suddenly made a U-turn and Sunil’s car rammed into it. “With the impact, the auto turned turtle, and two passengers were injured. Thankfully, my dashcam recorded all this. I was able to show proof to the police,” he says.

From accident proof to theft prevention, road rage and harassment prevention, dashcams help in insurance and give a better sense of security.
