Former cop protests release of Rajiv Gandhi case convicts

Retired police officer Anusuya Daisy Ernest, who lost her three fingers in the suicide bomb blast that killed ex-PM Rajiv Gandhi, and others on Saturday protested against the Supreme Court's order releasing the six convicts in the case.

Carrying a photo of Rajiv Gandhi, the protesters shouted slogans saying the convicts did not deserve mercy and asked the Supreme Court to review its order.

"The convicts were the terrorists who killed the former PM and several others. The apex court ordered their release. If they don't deserve the capital punishment, then who else will get it?" asked Anusuya while speaking to reporters.
