Lakhs of PET candidates flood trains, UP stations

Lakhs of job hunters returning home after writing the UP preliminary eligibility test (PET) for Group B and C government vacancies swarmed railway stations in Lucknow and other cities on Sunday in a mad scramble for a foothold on trains, leaving women-only coaches packed with male passengers and even lavatories choked with people.

Chaos and panic was palpable at Charbagh Station after the second day of the test even as the railway authorities shared regular alerts about the availability of trains, including examination specials.

Such was the desperation that more than 10 passengers were seen sharing a lower reserved berth in coach after coach.
