The BMC will re-float its tenders to turn 400km of Mumbai roads into cement concrete (CC) ones.

Mumbai: However, a cost escalation is likely, with civic sources indicating an around 20% rise in the total repair costs. The cost of the new tenders is estimated to breach Rs 7,000 crore.

A senior BMC officer attributed the increase in cost to the civic body’s insistence on pre-fabricated drains being part of the roads to be laid. “This will put concerns about repeated digging of roads to rest,” the official said. The new tenders have also included a few additional roads from the western suburbs.
