LG letter to Punjab CM sparks w war of words

New Delhi:

The LG in his letter, written on Thursday and copied to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, said air pollution in the city has reached “extremely dangerous” levels due to smoke, 95% of which was originating from stubble burning in Punjab.

“I wish to draw your attention towards the pain and suffering that the people of Delhi are experiencing for no fault of theirs, and request you to undertake urgent and substantive measures to control parali burning in Punjab, that has converted the national capital once again into a gas chamber (sic)," the LG wrote in his letter, adding that it was violating people's Fundamental Rights to health and life.

The letter, however, evoked a strong reaction from Mann, who tweeted on Friday morning, asking the LG to desist from "playing politics" on the issue.
