Meet the winner of 2022 ABB Research Award

When Utsav Banerjee re-ceived the email stating that he had won the prestigious 2022 ABB Research Award, he had to read it several times before he could believe it.

Banerjee is assistant professor of electronic systems engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, and was given the award, which comes with a $300,000 grant, to continue his research on innovative integrated circuits and systems for increased security of connected devices in the inter net-of-things.

The award is one of the most highly endowed global research awards given by a corporation, and is given every three years to an early-career academic researcher from among many international applicants.

Banerjee is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and did his Master’s and PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
