A year on, Chow still riding high

David Valentin, of Liaison Strategies, said the poll shows that Mayor Olivia Chow still needs to do more to address concerns about crime and traffic congestion.

One year after Olivia Chow became Toronto’s mayor, a solid majority of residents think she’s doing a good job running the city, according to a new poll.

The public opinion survey conducted by Liaison Strategies found 59 per cent of respondents approved of Chow’s performance, while 32 per cent disapproved. Just under one in 10 weren’t sure.

“It’s a good anniversary for Chow,” said David Valentin, principal at Liaison, who pointed out the results suggest that Chow would beat Ana Bailão, her main rival in last June’s unexpected byelection, if a theoretical rematch were held today.
