Most of us believe that mindfulness and meditation are one and the same. Though they are interrelated, they are not the same.
â Mindfulness is mostly a quality in life that we adopt while meditation is a practice which we do every day.
âMeditation could be used as a technique to follow mindfulness.
âMeditation is mostly done by sitting in one place while there are various mindfulness techniques like mindful eating, mindful walking, etc.
âMindfulness is just one aspect of meditation, while meditation contains various methods like transcendental, vipassana, etc.
âMindfulness is a method that teaches us how to slow down our racing thoughts. It helps us reduce stress and negativity.
âMindfulness works on the below principles: Non-judging: Mindfulness operates on a principle that the world is not always good or bad. It is all based on our perspective.
â Patience: Most of us nowadays expect instant gratification. But patience is very important. We need not rush to see the results. Pausing in the present moment is the most important technique in mindfulness.
â Trust: Trusting ourselves and the world around us is very important. It is important to trust the process.
â Acceptance: Acceptance another virtue of mindfulness. Accepting the present moment just as it makes us think better and in a mature way.
â Letting go: In mindfulness, we need to let go of the expectations. When we let go of the expectations, we will be able to see how profound our experiences can be.
