It's a cliché that becoming a parent changes you, but that doesn't make it any less true. It's also a huge truism that 'shooting what you know' can be some of the most affecting work you'll ever do.
When Lydia Goldblatt became a mother, she found herself unable to make pictures. But, when her own mother died, she started to take photographs at home - both at home and in the city where she lives.
The result is Fugue. A wonderfully moving testament to the extraordinarily ordinary, shot with love, tenderness, and of course the skill to notice that which is worthy of being documented at exactly the right moment.
