Never heard of Delta Force? Then you, like us, weren’t a big PC gamer in the late ’90s. Revolutionary at the time due to huge 3D environments that pushed what was possible on the platform, that ambition meant it never had much of a footprint on console. By the time it did make the leap, bigger series like Call Of Duty and Battlefield had already shaped what console shooters could be. But now Delta Force is back courtesy of Tencent and Team Jade, which developed Call Of Duty Mobile.
With impressive visuals, detailed gun models, and realistic sound design the game feels modern and at home on PlayStation. Free-to-play, it’s a big package, though one indicative of the demands placed on shooters that want to make it big in the current gaming landscape.
