Mathana Kumar leads podium sweep for Pacer Yamaha

Double for Rajini, Sarvesh; Ann Jennifer tops Girls race

Veteran Rajini Krishnan from RACR Castrol Power 1 continued his winning ways by notching a double in the premier Pro-Stock 301-400cc category as did Pacer Yamaha's Mathana Kumar in Pro-Stock 165cc, Hubballi's Sarvesh Balappa of Axor Sparks Racing in Novice Stock 165cc and. Jennifer tops in Girls race in the Rolon Round 2 of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2022 that concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway.

On a day of stunning reversals in fortunes, Mathana Kumar and Prabhu Arunagiri delivered a 1-2 finish for the Bengaluru-based Pacer Yamaha team.

Similarly, Mathana and Arunagiri trumped the Race 1 Open field with some fine riding for a top-two sweep for Pacer Yamaha after a gap of 12 years, while the top guns in this class, Petronas TVS Racing's Jagan Kumar and KY Ahamed, exited the contest due to mechanical issues with their bikes. As such, the Pacer Yamaha riders had little to contend with as the pair finished well ahead of Rajiv Sethu from Idemitsu Honda SK69 Racing.

While winning both the races, Mathana Kumar led a podium sweep for Pacer Yamaha as team-mates Prabhu Arunagiri and Mithun Kumar followed him home in a race that was a disaster for the two big teams, Petronas TVS Racing and Idemitsu Honda SK69 Racing, none of whose top riders finished the race.

The Pacer Yamaha riders gave a near-flawless performance and were a cut above the rest in both pace and finesse even as their key rivals dropped out due to various reasons. "All credit to the riders who performed extremely well this weekend. It has been a decade since Pacer Yamaha had a podium sweep whether yesterday's 1-2 or today's 1-2-3 finish. Yes, it brought back memories of our team's halcyon days," said Pacer Yamaha owner Shekar Bhojanna, 61, who began tuning bikes in 1976.
