DARYL LIM TAKES ON THE GRID

Spearheading Singapore’s maiden foray into the sport of professional long drive in October this year is Daryl Lim. The 26-year-old golf teaching professional with Golf Performance 360 will be competing at the annual World Long Drive Championship (WLD Championship) in Nevada, USA.

Daryl’s dream of competing against the world’s best professional long drive athletes materialised when he first got in touch with Ryan Reisback and Bobby Peterson, owner and co-founder respectively, of the Professional Long Drive Association (PLDA). As luck would have it, Daryl secured a competing spot at the WLD Championship and was also appointed Singapore’s official affiliate of the PLDA.

Reisback shared, “The PLDA is excited at the continued growth and development of long drive throughout the world. Our organization is seeing tremendous growth in areas new to long drive and each area starts with someone just like our Singapore affiliate, Daryl Lim. Daryl has a great swing and a passion for hitting monster drives which makes him the perfect person to begin the search for Singapore’s longest drivers of the golf ball.”

The WLD Championship is the pinnacle of this growing adrenaline-charged sport. Long drive athletes compete by crushing drives down the grid, a competitive turf range measuring 45-60 yards wide and 420-450 yards long, long and accurately enough to land within the grid for it to count.
