The 2023 EFL Awards take place next Sunday at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and Kompany is one of three contenders for the inaugural Championship Manager of the Season prize.
The 37-year-old Belgian will be hot favourite to scoop the honour after Burnley’s exploits this season. Michael Carrick, who has led an incredible Middlesbrough revival since taking over in late October, and Coventry boss Mark Robins, who continues to take the Sky Blues forward in often difficult circumstances, are also on the shortlist.
In the frame for the Championship Player of the Season prize are players from the same three clubs. Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom will be the favourite, having notched, pre-weekend, 26 goals in a remarkable campaign.
He will be challenged by Coventry’s Swedish star Viktor Gyokeres, who has weighed in with 18 goals and nine assists to once again highlight his credentials.

Midfielder Josh Brownhill is the other nominee after his superb season for Burnley.
