STEVENAGE 3, McNeill 21, Sweeney 44, Freeman 79
STEVE Evans was thrilled that Stevenage’s game plan came together as they claimed a convincing win to move into joint third place in League Two.
Boro have won four of their six league matches this campaign, and this latest success came thanks to first-half goals by debutant Charlie McNeill and Dan Sweeney and a wonderful 25-yard strike by Nick Freeman.
McNeill marked his debut with the opening goal on 21 minutes and Sweeney doubled the lead on 44 minutes before Freeman netted on 78 minutes.
“I thought the boys were excellent,” Evans enthused. “We knew we were playing against an excellent team but we had a game plan which we worked for a couple of days and we knew we could effect it in certain areas.
“With a little bit more care and attention I think we could have won by more.
