Attacking midfielder Haughton is the National Leagueâs top scorer so far this season with 11 goals, including a strike from inside his own half last Saturday to help the struggling Coasters to a morale-boosting 5-2 victory over Aldershot Town.
Itâs the type of form which has seen the 30-year-old dubbed by several rival managers as the best player outside the Football League, but Haughton insists helping the Coasters climb the table is his only priority.
âItâs great scoring goals, of course,â Haughton told The NLP. âSaturday was great because it was a win for the boys and weâve struggled a bit lately for results.
âI just want to keep helping the lads by scoring as many goals as I can. Thatâs all I can do.
âI got 18 last year so I set myself a target of 20 at the start of the season to go a bit better. To score 11 in the first couple of months is obviously a great start for me personally â I just wish it had been a bit better for Fylde and for the lads.
