At the end of last year British Airways and American Airlines unveiled their new home at Terminal 8 JFK New York. The co-location A of the two joint business carriers means that there is a dedicated premium check-in for top tier flyers and those flying in business and first class on the New York JFK route to London Heathrow.
Other operational improvements include five new widebody gates, four new widebody parking positions, and an expanded and upgraded baggage handling system that will together support additional transatlantic flights. The terminal has also been expanded with over 12,000 sqm of additional and refurbished space.
One world alliance carrier Iberia also moved into Terminal 8 on December 1, while Japan Airlines expects to move its operations in May.
There are two new lounges (called Soho and Chelsea), and a rebranded third lounge (called Greenwich) named for being places in both New York and London. The lounges were designed by Gensler with Sodexo Magic providing the food and drink.
