Pet parents Tanveer Taj and Priyanka Jena (wheelsandtails) started travelling with their dogs in 2015. In 2019, they embarked on a road trip across India for 90 days, covering more than 10,000 km with their furry kids, Frodo and Cruise. The couple's Instagram feed is abuzz with pictures and videos of the Golden Retriever, Labrador, and their pet cat Noorie running around on beaches and climbing mountains. The couple speaks to Simrran Gill about the joy and challenges of travelling with their pets.

How did the idea of travelling with your pets come about? Tanveer Taj: My wife and I are outdoor buffs and would always feel bad leaving our pets behind. We started travelling with our dogs in 2015 and realised that our dogs were just happy to be around us. It is a lot more fun sharing these moments with your furry kids.

Priyanka Jena: Tanveer and I enjoy travelling together a lot. I wanted a pet to travel, see the world, and enjoy with me. Hence, it was a no-brainer that our pets go where we go.

What are some of the best pet-friendly destinations in India and why?

TT: We have covered nearly 22 states in India with our pets. Meghalaya was truly a pet friendly destination. The terrain was beautiful, and the people were friendly. We also really liked Rameswaram, and bits of Uttarakhand are also nice.

Are there any hidden gems that you discovered travelling with your dogs?
