They say everything happens for a reason, and that certainly applies to how we found this home, which was our first step on the property ladder,’ says Emily. ‘At the time, we weren’t really looking to buy, but in the middle of lockdown we saw that there were some new houses being built in our area, so we thought we’d go and have a look, just to be nosy really.
Although we’d been saving for a while, we didn’t think we were in a position to buy at that point, but thought it couldn’t hurt to see what’s out there. We weren’t fully sold on the idea of buying a new build either, as we thought it could be small and dark with tiny windows. But as soon as we walked through the door, we were welcomed with a large, light and bright hallway which instantly changed our minds. It was much more spacious than we’d thought it would be and we realised that this was definitely somewhere we could see ourselves living one day.
Coming around
Then, while chatting to the estate agents, I discovered that I'd be entitled to a discount as I work for the NHS something I hadn't been aware of. We realised that this house was the only one not to have been snapped up yet, so we quickly reconsidered our finances and put in an offer.
