Now that the Jubilee bunting has finally been ripped down, another hugely significant royal milestone is about to be reached.

But there will be no national occasion, no service in St Paul’s, not even a pop concert in her name when the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death ticks by this month.

Tragic, you might think, that one of the most significant events in the past 100 years of royal history is not being acknowledged with gun salutes or the unveiling of a memorial.

But there is still something that those who loved Diana can cling to, a quarter of a century after her death.
