Should we be allowed to sing at musicals?

YES

Two or three times a year, you will find me at the theatre enjoying a show - which quite often involves singing. Loudly.

I recently went to see The Book of Mormon and Queen's We Will Rock You. At the latter, audience participation was not just tolerated, but encouraged, with almost everyone up on their feet singing along for the duration of the show.

We stamped our feet to the titular We Will Rock You, threw our arms up and sang at the top of our lungs at the crescendo of Bohemian Rhapsody. The cast enjoyed it and so did we, and I went home confident in the knowledge I hadn't ruined anyone's night.
