The troubled singer loses her 'rock' as her marriage to Sam ends after just 14 months

She's made it through some of her darkest hours with her partner of six years Sam Asghari by her side, but Britney Spears is heartbroken now their marriage has crumbled just over a year after their "dream" wedding.

The sad split is especially hard on the 41-year-old singer as it means she also has to let go of her long-held hopes of having another baby.

"It's a double heartbreak because she dreamed of having a family with Sam," an insider tells Woman's Day. "She's very angry that he didn't seem interested in trying to fix the situation, but this has been going on for a while. She had no choice but to pull the plug."

Britney's long-running mental health issues have been publicly documented, often aired as she fought to free herself from her strict 13-year conservatorship.

But through all her personal troubles, Sam has often been credited as being Britney's "rock" since they got together in 2016, giving her the stability she has needed even in the toughest times.

A Spears family source once confided, "There is no question that Sam is great for Britney. He has a very positive influence on her."

The personal trainer was also by Britney's side throughout her harrowing court fight to end her conservatorship in 2021, with one source saying she was "eternally thankful to have him in her corner"
