The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appear to be leading increasingly separate lives as their lucrative media deals evaporate, with Hollywood heavyweights slamming them as "talentless" and "grifters".

Meghan must have spent a good hour with her calligraphy pen writing an invitation to Taylor Swift to appear on her now-defunct Archetypes podcast. Unfortunately, her efforts were in vain - not only did the duchess receive a firm "thanks but no thanks", but the reply wasn't even sent from the singer, 33, herself.

"It's just another humiliation for Meghan, who's now worried her letter could be leaked and become a mockery," says an insider. "There's no doubt they underestimated their appeal, but it was insane for her to even approach Taylor, who has been a loyal friend of Prince William's for close to a decade. Taylor was appalled to get the invitation in the first place." 

"Meghan and Harry are both stunned by the harsh things that are being said, and the hits keep on coming," says an insider. "Meghan's saying they must never give up, but that doesn't take away from the fact she and Harry are currently perceived as a laughing stock - and for all their bravado, it's a humiliating reality that's well and truly sinking in."
