EAT AT MICHELIN-STARRED RESTAURANTS FOR LESS THAN $20

Everyone knows the food in Japan is incredible. Step into just about any restaurant and your meal will be delicious as well as affordable. In Tokyo alone, there are more than 200 Michelin-starred eateries. Feast on ramen for around $11 at the oneMichelin-starred Nakiryu or Ginza Hachigo. TAKE A TEA CEREMONY 

There's something calming about taking off your shoes and donning a kimono for a tea ceremony, though you have to do it properly! At traditional Kyoto teahouse Wakwak-kan, a wander through the garden is encouraged to purify your mind before taking tea. Matcha tea is said to slow ageing, help hangovers and wake you up. When presented with your cup, you should rotate it clockwise twice.
