Before Meghan had married into the family, she was already stepping on Kate’s toes – offending the then-pregnant duchess by asking to borrow her lip gloss.

Describing the moment as “awkward”, Harry recalls, “Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube. Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate grimaced… Small clash of styles, maybe.”

Revealing private text messages where Meghan and Kate butted heads over Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, Harry adds that Meghan “sobbed on the floor” following the exchange.

He also claims Kate was deeply offended by Meghan saying she had “baby brain” in the lead-up to the 2018 birth of Prince Louis.

When Harry met William’s then-girlfriend Kate, he recalls being immediately taken with her. “I loved seeing her laugh,” he says. “Better yet, I liked making her laugh – and I was quite good at it!”

But the shine of meeting his brother’s future wife began to wear off, with Harry admitting that while she was like a sister to him, being their third wheel was “awkward”.

By the time they wed in a Westminster Abbey extravaganza – which made Harry feel uncomfortable given it was the location of their late mother’s funeral – the younger Wales brother despaired that he felt his brother was “gone”.
