BHAKTI SYNDROME IN THE MODERN GENERATION

Bhakti syndrome is an ailment of society in which people follow single hero-worship practices. It is quite common in India to witness people, especially today’s youth, blindly worshiping their ideal politician, cricketer, or actor.

Indians have the belief that if their idol is doing something then, it must be correct and they can never be wrong. The outrage in staunch supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party seen when anyone speaks against PM Narendra Modi is what 'Bhakti Syndrome' is.

The fights of individuals for their favourite political parties are not leading towards a progressive society.

The modern generation, especially youth under the influence of political leaders, have started indulging in communal riots in various parts of India. In the recent turn of events, stone pelting was witnessed on a community by another community in Nalanda and Sasaram of Bihar on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Most of the people involved in such violent incidents were youth. Political leaders are in no way going to build the youths' careers but they can play a major role in ruining their future.

The question here is: Why Indians are so obsessed with hero worship? Various fan clubs have been floated on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to support their favourite leaders and stars. Celebs' names are often seen in trending lists on Twitter. Do Indian youth have left with only this task to make the already famous celebs trending every day?
