Eminent personalities Peter Brook in theatre , ooran adigal the spiritualist and Achuthan Koodallur , the modern abstract artist bid adieu to this earth and they are remembered in the obituary notes by Indira Parthasarathi, P Saravanan and Theodore Bhaskaran. Perumal murugan had been honoured with the prestigious Fakir Mohan award the Fakir Mohan university  in Odisha.
