THE PEAK IN AUGUST explores the many facets of Tan Sri Datuk Ng Teck Fong, Founder and Executive Chairman of Tomei, one of Malaysia’s leading names in the gold and jewellery industry. Having grown up in poverty – his father died when he was four – Ng’s initial ambition was to teach. As fate would have it, however, he went to work for his goldsmith brother, thus beginning his‘accidental’ career that culminated in Tomei. Amiable, humble and still a teacher at heart, Ng talks about family, values and the importance of history. Our main focus this month is on art, including a look at the 25 artists who are supporting twenty-five, The Peak’s 25th Anniversary Charity Auction, before heading for the azure waters of the Maldives and the pleasures to be had while sailing them.
