The winter garden is our lead focus this month. Far from a wasteland, the winter garden can be a scented wonderland, full of plants that come into their own at this time of year. Just as this issue goes on sale the Matariki star cluster will be due to appear in the sky, signalling the beginning of Māori New Year. It’s a time to gather with loved ones, reflect on the past and plan for the future, including for a new gardening year in Aotearoa.
