Photographed by Scott A Woodward, our cover story is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional bahay na bato designed by JJ Acuña, in collaboration with his sister, lawyer and philanthropist Geraldine Acuña- Sunshine. A true love letter to their heritage, the Acuña family home in the heart of the metropolis is a beautiful resort-like haven filled with local art and furniture.

We also explore this concept of Modern Filipino Architecture in a more in-depth manner as we speak to the architect Manny Miñana on the theories
behind his body of work. From traditional weaves becoming a mainstay for home décor to a young Filipina, Mirei Monticelli, making waves at this year’s Salone di Mobile, this issue champions successful intersection of our exceptional craftsmanship and ingenious homegrown designers.

Aside from this, we also feature the thoughtfully conceptualised space of banker, Anne Alonso, who worked with Joseph Goyenechea on a full renovation of her 3-bedroom apartment that showcases her love for unique antiques and local art. Other creative personalities who opened their homes to us are the vivacious Marga Nograles and the über cool Bea Ledesma.
