In this issue, we think of communication methods. While preparing the issue, we have started with the question of how we can understand the thoughts and feelings of a person. Then we wondered whether animals are able to understand us, and if so, how? The subject we were most curious about was how babies learn to talk. Can we communicate with people speaking different languages? What tools can we use to communicate? Are there people communicating with space? How does communication make life easier?

Hello Young Researchers,

We made long journeys as we were preparing this issue. We took notes of what we saw around us during our journey. Trees, birds, bridges, mountains and various animals... And of course, means of transport! Among the things we saw were different car models, huge buses, ships floating on the sea, a train speeding past us and a plane leaving its trail in the sky.
We wondered and researched the chronological evolution of the means of transport we use and how they changed. We imagined the features of the vehicles we’ll use in the future. We met such passionate travellers that we listened to their adventures with excitement. We brought together our photos, notes and drawings, and prepared a fun issue for you.

In this issue, we went on a nature trip too. We closely examined the organisms that attracted our attention. Meanwhile, we learnt that some organisms produce poison to protect themselves, so we started researching. We started with plants, moved on to animals and wandered in the mysterious world of mushrooms. Each was more interesting than the other! When we met scientists studying poisons, we learnt that poisons have both harms and benefits. We also discussed the artificial poisons produced by humans and the damage that these poisons cause to nature. We enjoyed being friends with nature and wrote for you about the ways to protect nature.

Let’s grab our flashlights and mirrors, and conduct various experiments all together, shall we?
 
In this issue, we conducted experiments to explore how light is reflected and refracted. We watched the resulting images and couldn’t believe our eyes! We looked at the geometrical shapes from every angle. As we were looking at the shapes, we realised what happened when the colours and angles changed.

We asked our questions about light to physicists. Once we learnt optics and illusion, we discovered the physics and mathematics behind the fascinating shows of illusionists. We examined the artworks by famous painters and read the scientists’ papers. We looked at the optical illusion pictures and had fun.

Hello Young Researchers,
You can never know where and when you’ll come up with a research question. It may pop up in your head while you are on the road, while you are playing on the street or while you’re doing something you love... Then, you might ask, “Where did this question come from?”.
We were trying to stick the drawings we made to a paper. Some of them stuck well, but some quickly fell down. We used different adhesives to secure the bonding: tapes, solid and liquid adhesives and so on...
Then, one of us asked: What do adhesives contain? How do they bond things? How many adhesives are there? We listed our questions one after the other. In this issue, we researched everything about adhesives from their history, their production, substances they contain and adhesive bonding to the natural adhesives and chemical adhesives. During our research, we carried out experiments. Our experiments were both fun and surprising. If you are ready to learn about the world of adhesives, you can start by doing simple experiments. Do you like observing things? Start counting the objects and living things around you that attract your attention. Let’s see what you’ll find!

We started this issue by playing an observation game. We counted what we saw around us, one by one. Birds, trees, cats, ants, snails, leaves, people walking on the street, cars, bicycles, trash bins… Then one of us said: “There’s so much trash around. Where does all this go?”. We looked at the types of waste we dump. We thought “What if waste materials keep piling up?” and started working.

We researched what happens to the trash we dispose from here to there. We visited solid waste facilities, factories, nature conservation centres. The more we learned how harmful trash is to nature, the faster we changed our habits. We looked for ways to become a conscious consumer and protect nature. We wrote our findings for you. We spent plenty of time in nature, watched documentaries and talked with experts in the field. In this issue, while looking at the dazzling pictures taken by space telescopes, we asked questions such as “What’s in the depths of the universe? When and how did the journey into space begin? Which spacecraft have travelled where so far and found what?”. While we were searching for answers to the questions, some of us said, “I wish I were an astronaut!”, designed rockets, started preparing space projects, observed the Moon every night, solved space puzzles, wondered about meteorites, visited observatories, and wrote down the new information. Think about 10 years, 100 years or even thousands of years ago. Where and how did people live? How did they clothe themselves? How did they communicate? What tools did they use? What did they do for a living?
We looked at a timeline of world history created by historians, and studied the oldest recorded history. Ancient history got us very excited. We didn't lose any time preparing the issue. First, we went through the written sources of history. Then, we visited museums. Next, we talked to archaeologists, historians and artists. After that, we gathered everything that we could find: resources of ancient history, photos, maps, information about fascinating archaeological discoveries and the travel notes about some ancient cities. Finally, we wrote articles about these things and illustrated them. We are glad that writing was invented. When you read this exciting, surprising and thought-provoking information, what will you think about it? Music, science, painting, food, agriculture, even dogs… Remember that everything you can think of has a history. Look up a history topic that interests you.
Compare the past with the present, think about what might happen in the future. You can write down your thoughts on a piece of paper or draw a picture.

Eating vegetables and fruits, doing sports, resting, going to the doctor... Maybe more.
In this issue, we think about the questions "What does it mean to be healthy?" and "What should we do to be healthy?". We have visited some of our favourite doctors and asked them the following questions: "How does our body work? How can we protect ourselves from diseases? How are diseases diagnosed and treated? How do we keep animals healthy? What technological tools are used in healthcare? Who invented them?". We share the information we received from them with drawings and photographs. While reading the magazine, think about what you are doing to stay healthy. Look up the things that you are curious about and share them with your friends.

What kind of music do you like to listen to?
While preparing this issue, we listened to different types of music. We clapped our hands with excitement, sang along and danced to the songs. Next we explored different musical instruments and looked up the stories of the most famous musicians. Their stories impressed us deeply. Then we discovered musical notes. We learned the names of them and what they sound like. Afterwards, we played our favourite song together. Music soothed our body and mind. “What would it be like if the sound of music can be heard from the depths of space?” we dreamed. We want to pass on our enthusiasm about music to you. To prepare this issue, we grabbed our bags and went to the nearest forest to spend time in nature. First, we looked at trees closely, and picked fruit from them. Meanwhile, we took pictures of the plants and insects that we saw. While sitting by a stream, we wrote down the questions that came to our minds. Then, we looked for answers. Later on, we met a famous photographer who takes pictures of large and wild animals and did an interview with him. Besides, we read fantastic stories about nature. We ended up spending a long time outside. Everything was so impressive. As a result, we created activities and wrote down suggestions about protecting nature. Spend time in nature this summer. Listen to the sounds of nature. What will you hear, see and feel? What can you do to protect all living things found in nature? Give it some thought. Then write down or draw the things that came to mind. Take action to protect nature.

Do you like puzzles? Everyone tries to guess the answer and share their guesses with each other. The answer surprises everyone and makes them laugh. More puzzles mean more fun.
While preparing this issue, we asked each other questions. We knew the answers to some of them, and we wanted to find out the answers to the other ones.“Come on, have a guess!” we said. Afterwards we did some research to find answers to our questions. We gathered some information, and we thought on it. "Is it possible? If it were possible, what would it be like?" we contemplated. Lastly, we compared the results of our research with our assumptions.
Here's what we asked: What will the James Webb Space Telescope uncover? How do scientists determine the age of dinosaurs? How many giant pandas are left in the world? What will the weather be like tomorrow? What happened to the snowman? Whose pink beanie is this? Who is George Mendel? Asking questions helped us learn new things and have fun. 
How about you play the guessing game? Ask each other questions about the things you are curious about. First try to guess the answers, then do some research. Compare your findings. Let's see what you will learn!

When you hear the word scientist or engineer, who comes to mind first?
How does this person look when working? Can he be someone who is curious, imaginative, determined, good at problem solving and who keeps thinking and experimenting? Do you have similar qualities? What do you think?
In this issue, we explore who engineers and scientists are and how they work. Their ideas have made us both curious and excited. Who doesn't like to play it? Every player selects 
a corner and the player in the centre runs from 
corner to corner. This game is always very fun.  

In this issue, we took threads and started running from corner to corner. In the meantime we listed the words that came to our minds. We made shapes with thread: a triangle, a square and a circle. We looked at the patterns of the stars. We painted houses, roads, mountains, seas and flowers. We walked on the roads that we have painted. They looked like maps. We met artists and architects on the corners. We asked them how they found the corners. This issue which we started by playing puss in the corner ended very well. Watching the world from above,
Moving rapidly from side to side,
Feeling the air...
Many people have attempted to do these things! Each attempt led to another one and they flew again and again. In the end, they invented vehicles that could fly in the sky. An exciting journey that starts with paper planes and ends with rockets!
We went along on this journey and got to know different flying vehicles. We learnt about the physics of flying. We soared towards Antarctica and photographed everything that we saw. We wrote down our ideas and painted pictures. Now it's your turn! Write down the ideas that come to mind on a piece of paper, then fold a plane with it! There are experiments in which the substances explode, foam, glow and it makes you wonder how these things happen. Is it magic? Is it real? Sometimes we cannot tell the difference. We would like to know what is inside the test tubes and how they are made. You can research and do experiments to satisfy your curiosity. In this issue, we start off with the experiments that surprised us. We browsed books, mixed liquids and compared smells. We listened to the stories of alchemists and met chemists. We learned what chemistry is. We created fun tongue twisters with the things we learned. We put all these things in a tube. Come on, let's discover the chemistry and try to say the tongue twisters. Hello Young Researchers,
Take a handful of soil and look at it closely. Then sprinkle it on the ground and get ready to play in it.
We were curious about soil. Curiosity gets the ball rolling! We immediately started digging the soil. The things in it were very surprising. We examined all of them one by one. We found people who study soil with as much curiosity as us. Some of them were in the field, some of them were under the sea, some of them were on distant islands and some others were on Mars. When we got tired, we rested under a tree. We planted our favourite seeds and watered them. We played games under the tree. We made mud balls and painted pictures with soil. Birds snatched the balls we made. We ran after the birds and rolled in the soil. We were covered in soil but it was worth it. In this issue, you can read about all this. We love playing in the soil. In this issue, we started off with the concept of growing. Growing reminded us of the seeds which are at the centre of sunflowers. When we thought about what else is at the centre of other things, we came up with the nucleus and the Earth’s core. All of them are different sizes, but equally interesting. We played games, wrote poems and painted pictures. We ate sunflower seeds in the meantime. As you turn the pages, you will find various ideas that we developed and wrote down. We wondered where and how this reduplicative is used. Then we started to observe everything wrinkly-crinkly around us. Wrinkled clothes, curly hair, wrinkly animals, wrinkles on our faces, crumpled waste... We discovered many hidden things behind the wrinkles. Lastly, we grew a lettuce. Now it's your turn!
