Welcome to the Creative Feel Feb/March 2020 issue! In this issue, we partner with the South African premiere of William Kentridge’s electrifying production 'The Head & the Load', and include an in-depth interview with the artist. We also look at the latest prints produced by Kentridge in collaboration with Artist Proof Studio, explore a group exhibition at Standard Bank Gallery comprising artworks by 54 artists from across Africa, and investigate the blurred line between ‘Art is work. Art is not work.’ In design news, we take a look at a few of the artists that represented South Africa at Design Miami, we delve deeper into Porky Hefer’s new hanging seating pods, and take a look at the work of Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama who will be speaking at Design Indaba. In our musical section, we go behind the scenes and interview RMB Starlight Classics Maestro Richard Cock, Director Darren Hayward, and takes a look at the 2020 line-up. Education in the creative sector is key in this issue as we highlight organisations that work with young creatives using art as a tool with articles on Columba Leadership, Bolt’s Farm, and South Africa’s very first Creative Industries Career Expo. We also chat to Dr Mirriam Tawane, Ernestine White-Mifetu, and PJ Sabbagha on the importance of their roles in the creative sector. In performance news, we congratulate The Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative as they celebrates 25 years of groundbreaking creativity and five years of the Ebhudlweni Arts Centre this year. This is an issue that is particularly exciting for us to put out – and heralds a few changes. Going forward, Creative Feel will now be producing six issues a year instead of eleven, to give us time not only to create content that is relevant, exciting and original, but also to take on projects that contribute to the growth of the creative industries.
