BRIAN Reese is a budgerigar fancier from Hayle, Cornwall. Currently, he is probably best known as the chairman of the popular and forward-thinking Cornwall BS. Brian is the driving force behind the club.
He has been a champion breeder and exhibitor for some years but a couple of years ago he passed his BS judges examination and that year was the top judge. Since then he has been a popular official and has exercised his judging stick all over the UK. Many believe he is one of the best of the new judges on the circuit. Brian says he enjoys his judging, traveling to good clubs around the country and chatting with fanciers.
Recently, I visited his birdroom following his three best-in-show awards this show season. At the Cornwall BS gold championship show, he took the top award with a grey-green adult hen and the best young bird award with another grey green hen. At Plymouth championship, he also took the award for best opposite sex as well as best in the show, and finally took the top prize at the Western Counties area show. All three best-in-show awards went to his grey green hen – a really super bird!
