James Sommerville bounces back from his fall on his Badminton debut to win
JAMES SOMMERVILLE scorched round the cross-country on his own and his mother Jennifer’s Talent to win the open intermediate (OI) five penalties ahead of his nearest rival, adding nothing to his dressage score.
Time was a crucial factor, with the undulating ground making it notoriously difficult to get, but Ben Hobday proved it could be done with Ciletto H, stopping the clock inside the time to finish fourth. James was the only other rider to make the target in the intermediate sections. The dressage leader, Wills Oakden and Ballbreaker SD, had a rail down and added a handful of time-faults to finish second.
