Shooters voice displeasure after Lincolnshire Police and the Local Medical Committee announce plans to charge for licensing checks

Lincolnshire GPs Seek Licence Fees

The Lincolnshire Local Medical Committee (LMC) has come under fire after GPs were instructed to begin charging for initial medical checks for shotgun and firearm certificate applicants.

The Countryside Alliance (CA) and BASC have reported its members have received invoices for varying amounts for what is supposed to be a free check.

Lincolnshire GPs were acting under instruction from the LMC, which had supplied a template letter stating: “If we do not receive your consent, and the fee, within seven days of this letter, we will write to the police to inform them that we are unable to examine your medical records for the purposes of providing information in relation to firearm licensing.
