Y.E.S 93.3’s fan favourite DJ Lim Peifen welcomes us to her humble abode to chat about all things cats and kids.
Take one step into Lim Peifen’s home and you will notice one of two things — her three feline furkids roaming and lazing around, or the labyrinth of wooden panels fitted near the ceiling and spanning the entire living room, known as the “cat highway”.
It’s not hard to see why her fans love her so — Y.E.S 93.3’s DJ and hostess Lim Peifen is warm and friendly from the get go.
“Actually, I just baked a cake,” she quipped, placing it on the table. “Would you like some?”
Eager to spend the afternoon chatting with our down-to-earth cover girl, we padded over to the dining table where she was getting her hair and makeup done, with Mono (one of her more affectionate cats) in tow.
Mediacorp’s very own cat lady
If there’s one person that the people of Mediacorp can rely on to foster a rescued cat, or to scout feline talents from, it’s Peifen.
“Snuggie, my oldest cat, was actually on screen a few times! He was in C.I.D. — a Channel 8 police drama — alongside Qi Yuwu and Apple Hong. The show needed a cat, and they knew that I had one, so they asked me about it,” she shares.
Seeing how Snuggie shies away from company (both humans and his fellow cat brothers), however, makes it hard to imagine him being in showbiz.
Peifen elaborates: “He was much younger then. Later on, when he was five, he had stones in his bladder — which is fatal for cats — and had to undergo a surgery. From then on, he became averse to strangers, perhaps from emotional trauma.”
“He’s much better now, but still very private. He’s like a grumpy old man,” she jokes.
