Furnishing the Chateau

How did you approach furnishing the guest rooms? We had a family discussion and decided we wanted. to keep the furniture old but make the rooms very clean and neat with modern comforts - such as phone charger points by the beds and remote-controlled lighting. We wanted everything to look like it was decorated in the 18th century, so even wallpapers are reproductions of old designs, and the bathroom fittings are antique.

Many of the rooms include alcoves, in which beds used to be placed.

The Pierre Frey Braquenié wallpaper makes this room with its triple view of the park even brighter.

Was it hard to find antique fixtures and fittings? It was actually very easy. People tend to want minimal, Swedish style at the moment so those who inherit houses from their parents or grandparents just put all the antiques up for auction. It's very easy to find everything for reasonable prices.
