Adobe Unveils Photoshop Experience For The Ipad

After promising for months that it was bringing a full version of Photoshop to Apple’s iPad, Adobe has finally unveiled its Photoshop on iPad App. The app uses the same code base as Photoshop for desktop; Adobe says its goal was to reimagine the “power, depth, and flexibility” of the desktop app for use on a tablet.

The app is available now as a free download, and you’ll have unrestricted access to the app for 30 days – beyond that you’ll need to have a subscription to one of Adobe’s Creative Cloud plans. You can currently get the Creative Cloud photography plan for £9.98 / $9.99, which includes Photoshop and Lightroom across all your (compatible) devices, including computers and iPads.

The key benefit of the new version is that it enables you to edit your files just as you might do on your desktop. So you get PSD (Photoshop Document) support, with no conversion, compression or import/export issues. You also get access to layers, selection tools, and many of the other editing tools that you’ll be used to from the desktop version of Photoshop, but optimized for use with the iPad’s touchscreen interfaces and the Apple Pencil.
