Maruti Suzuki had been dormant for some time as far as new launches were concerned. Now though the company has jump started the action with the first major launch being the second generation Celerio hatchback. For starters, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio was launched way back in 2014 and quite obviously was showing its age. So it was but obvious that the new one was round the corner. So what is it all about? Let’s find out.
The second gen Celerio is a completely new car and is based on the company’s Heartect platform which underpins a host of other Maruti Suzuki cars. The Celerio has also changed as far as dimensions are concerned. It is now 3,695mm long, 1,655mm high and 1,555mm wide. A longer wheelbase of 2,435mm has also helped in liberating more space inside. As far as looks are concerned, designers have tried to give the new Celerio a more youthful appearance. The big headlights, chrome-stripped grille all combine to give the Celerio a fresh front end design. The bumper also comes with claddings which house fog lights on top variants. In profile one can see the new 15in alloys which look sporty. Lower variants will ride on 14in steel wheels. While the profile looks simple, the buttons for keyless entry look odd. At the back, there is nothing fancy to talk about except for the new ‘droplet’ styled tail lights. In a nutshell, the design of the Celerio is not something which will be an instant hit. On the contrary it will grow on you for sure.
