₹ 60 lakh (est., ex-showroom) We say: Volvo’s best-seller gets bigger, better, and with added toys, it now wants to do the driving for you
It is highly debatable the kind of mathematical value zero holds, but if you ask Volvo Cars, zero is the number it is aiming for – zero fatalities and serious injuries in any new Volvo by 2020. That’s what the Swedish care maker’s Vision 2020 is all about, and what the new XC60 is all about.
What you see here is the second generation of an SUV that has been a runaway success since the day its predecessor hit showroom floors almost a decade ago. Not only is it the best-selling Volvo globally, it’s been Europe’s chart buster SUV in its class and Volvo could’ve easily rested on its laurels if it wanted to. But it had different plans. With the new XC60, Volvo not only wants to push the barriers of the mid-size luxury SUV segment, but also wants to announce to the world how close it is to achieving its Vision 2020.
Before we get into the finer details of the new XC60, here’s some important info for all Volvo aficionados nationwide. Radar – it’s been a headache for Volvo for many years in India, but not anymore. Volvo India has finally got the thumbs up from our policymakers to go ahead and equip its cars with its globally-acclaimed radar-based technologies. And that means everything from its safety basket that’s available in cars globally will now be available to Indian customers as well.
