Exclusive first test of Magni’s tribute model to MV Agusta’s iconic 750S four-cylinder streetbike produced from 1971-75 while Italian trophy marque still winning World GP titles.
As it continues its ride along the comeback trail, MV Agusta has been acquired by Russian investor Timur Sardarov, after his successive cash injections allowed the famed Italian trophy brand to survive yet another brush with bankruptcy. His rescue mission will allow MV to continue offering the ever more tantalising array of new models combining leading edge engineering with arresting-looking design that it’s become famous for around the world since its revival by the Castiglioni family exactly 20 years ago, with the debut of the F4.
But 20 miles/30 km further south of MV’s Varese base, the historic traditions of this glorious marque have continued uninterruptedly to be showcased in a modern context, thanks to the ongoing efforts of Giovanni Magni. For in the Moto Magni factory at Samarate, he’s now producing the latest in an evocative series of traditional looking bikes powered by modern MV Agusta motors, which succeed only too well in the difficult objective of matching the spirit of the past, with the function of the present.
