Fast Bikes India was on the spot at the Aragon MotoGP, taking in the most relaxed Grand Prix event in mainland Europe but with the action as scalding hot as the Spaniards could whip up!
Round 14 of the 2017 World MotoGP Championship was run at the MotorLand Aragon circuit nestled in the middle of nowhere in Spain! Yes nowhere might sound a tad clichéd being in a rural part of Spain between Barcelona and Zaragoza but that suited us just fine because getting in and out of the circuit was easy, the facilities very modern yet easily accessible and the track being very technically tricky and yet a rider’s delight. The fact that this was the third MotoGP of the year in Spain wasn’t lost on many of us (with a fourth yet to come by way of the season finale at Valencia!) and even having been out there in the plains of Spain where it doesn’t rain meant that the stands were packed and thriving! No wonder then that the Spaniards love their motorcycle racing and it showed!

John Surtees an Appreciation
The first time I saw John Surtees was at Montlhery where he had come to demonstrate his old 1959 World Championship winning MV Agusta 500 and 350 machines. This was sometime in the mid-1990s and while I couldn’t get to speak with him then, his smooth clean and effortless riding style on the bumpy banking and through the notorious infield made me marvel at his imperious style.
