Joins league of full-range CV makers.
The Intermediate Commercial Vehicle (ICV) segment ranging from 16 tonnes to 25 tonnes GVW is considered very important in commercial vehicle goods carrier movement owing to its potential to span across sectors like parcel logistics, e-commerce, fruits and vegetables, reefer movement, as well as heavy duty applications like construction, material movement, etc. The segment has been growing at a CAGR of 15-17 per cent.
“In the last couple of years, the total industry volume for ICVs has surged from 1 lakh units to 1.5 lakh units,” declared Mr. Vinod Sahay, CEO, Mahindra truck and bus and construction equipment divisions, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., at the unveiling of its new range.
Mahindra Furio is the culmination of the company’s four years of focused efforts from more than 500 Mahindra engineers, 180 suppliers, continuous feedback from transporters and an investment of Rs. 600 crores. It is also soon after the company broke even almost eight years after it entered the highly competitive commercial vehicle market.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said: “The unveiling of the new Furio range of ICV trucks is a defining moment for our truck and bus business as we are set to enter a new orbit and become a full range commercial vehicle player. With Pininfarina-inspired design, the Furio is set to be a game changer for us and perhaps for the industry, giving the new truck one of the safest, most ergonomic and comfortable cabins that will set new standards. I am confident that just like the Blazo HCV series, the Furio range of ICVs will also set new benchmarks for performance, earnings and deliver better value to customers.”
