Kia’s lining up for a big launch in India in 2019, and so far we’ve gotten our hands on a fair few of its intended lineup. The Stonic, which is the car you see on these pages, is the latest of the lot, and is a very real possibility for the Indian market. There are a number of reasons for this, but I’ll start with the basics.

To begin with, the Stonic is essentially the sister model to the Hyundai Kona crossover. It’s the smallest SUV that Kia makes, and it’s quite a nice-looking thing in my eyes. There’s that chunky bonnet with what Kia calls the ‘tiger nose’ grille (apparently, the term wasn’t initially intended to be used for the public. It was just something that Kia’s internal team coined for use among themselves), and a neat pair of headlights that house LED DRLs.
