Project Camaro
SA Hot Rods|Edition 96

It’s the early 70’s, in the mid-west of the big US of A. Late at night, a Mustang lines up at a stop light and next to it a pretty stock looking ’68 Camaro.

Project Camaro

The light changes and all hell breaks loose! The Camaro launches off the line with a vengeance with the “pony car” hot on its heels. But looks can be deceiving… the stock looking Camaro isn’t so stock. It’s got a worked 383 stroker under the hood which catapults it to the next stop light quicker than you can say victory! The Mustang never stood a chance!

The two drivers pull over and a chat ensues. It now becomes obvious to the Mustang driver that the Camaro is somewhat of a “sleeper”. Murdered out chrome, racing seats with full harnesses, a half roll cage, no back seats, all subtle ques to what this car really is – this is no street car, this is a street racing car!!

Now you are likely wondering why the trip back in time to a street race? Well, this is the vision that a client had in mind when he commissioned Ace Customs to build his Camaro. The vision was to build a Camaro which one might consider to have been “hot-rodded” or “modified for street racing”. In other words, the car should maintain it’s classic looks but under the skin it should be a more hardcore version of the original car.
