Swedish owner-operator Lasse Hansen goes Dutch to get an extra-long-cab Scania S-series, the SXL 500, complete with stunningly presented Mockingjay movie theme.
Ever since the official Scania 4-series Longline, dozens of Scania trucks have been customised to get the Longline look. Although most of the tailor-made stretched cabs were Scanias, Daf and Volvo cabs have also been rebuilt to achieve extra space. Now, an extralong version of the new Scania models is available – Dutch bodybuilder Van Winkoop has cut a new S-series Highline cab into two pieces and stretched it by 120cm.
Hungry for a theme
The extra-long cab, the SXL, was ordered by Swedish owner-operator Lasse Hansen. Lasse, from Helsingborg, Sweden, is no stranger to the world of trucks. His company, Laröd Åkeri.se, was the proud owner of other special, stretched Scanias before he ordered his new Scania SXL 500 with the theme of Mockingjay, the final instalment of The Hunger Games.
Says Lasse: ‘I started my company in 1991. Initially I did all kinds of transport but, starting a couple of years back, I specialised in transporting steel. I drive for Stena steel with an 18.5-metre-long, fouraxle semi-trailer. This allows me to transport steel beams with a length of over 18m and which weigh up to 40 tonnes net, possible thanks to Swedish legislation. With my articulated combination I can weigh in at a total of 62 tonnes and, thanks to the Swedish regulations, I am still able to earn a living doing this special work.
