IN CASE YOU hadn’t heard, the Porsche Macan is going electric. Yes, from next year you’ll be able to buy a fully electric version. But this isn’t it. Nope: the Macan T is a new variant of the current generation – no charging cables, not even any mild-hybrid technology, just good old-fashioned petrol power.
The T is based on the entry-level Macan, and for a premium of £5000 you get a reasonable selection of visual upgrades. The usual twin rectangular exhausts have been replaced by quad round tailpipes, plus there’s agate (also known as grey) detailing on the rear spoiler, door mirrors, and the doors themselves. The 19in alloy wheels have also been swapped for dark grey 20s.
Inside, you’ll find more supportive seats (very similar to those in the range-topping GTS) plus a heated GT Sports steering wheel. However, it’s what you can’t see that’s arguably the most important: stiffer anti-roll bars at the front and bespoke adaptive suspension that sits the whole car 15mm closer to the road.
