With Mercedes bagging the toptwo positions in all of the five races so far, and Ferrari going backwards, is it possible for the Silver Arrows to be beat?
Five out of five! That’s the number of times Mercedes-AMG F1 team has been unbeaten thus far in the 2019 season. They’ve not only won all five races held so far but also scored full points in each of the rounds with their drivers taking 1-2 spots in every race. Ferrari? Well, it has no answer. Red Bull Racing is trying to get close, but it’ll take time to match the might of the Silver Arrows. So, is anyone going to beat Mercedes-AMG this year? Going by the results, and their performance, it’s unlikely. In fact, seeing how well the team is performing at the moment, they may not even allow any other team to take a single win this season – yes, they are on a different level altogether!
Mercedes securing 1-2 finishes in all five rounds isn’t just down to their brilliant tactics, drivers or the spectacular race-pace of their cars. On a couple of occasions, they’ve also benefitted from the poor form and mistakes of their rivals, especially Ferrari. For instance, Charles Leclerc convincingly beat the Mercedes-AMG pair in Bahrain during qualifying and was looking all set to take his maiden F1 win, until his car experienced a mechanical issue, which eventually dropped him down to third in the race.
